Swiss energy services provider Atel acquires Buzmann Industries S.R.L.

Atel is strengthening its position in the South Eastern European region with the acquisition of Romanian energy trader Buzmann Industries S.R.L.. Buzmann Industries adds an important portfolio of industrial customers to the Atel Group. The parties have agreed not to disclose the price of the transaction.

Expansion in South Eastern Europe

By purchasing Buzmann Industries, Atel has doubled its business operations in Romania. The core business of Bucharest-based energy trader Buzmann Industries S.R.L. is the supply of electricity to industrial customers with an annual consumption of around 10 – 100 GWh. Buzmann Industries has a substantial share of the Romanian end customer market. Founded in 2004, the company also delivers services such as metering, energy-related services and technical consulting. It will operate independently on the end customer market.

Atel is among the largest foreign electricity traders operating in Central and Eastern Europe. Active also in South Eastern Europe since 2001, it is now among the leading energy traders in this region.
