Fieldwork is expected to continue until late September 2005, with trucks transporting bore rods and drilling gear to the site.
The bores are located within the catchment basin of the Emosson power station and have been commissioned by Aare-Tessin Ltd. for Electricity (Atel) in Olten, which owns 50% of the share capital in Kraftwerke Emosson SA. Atel plans to form a consortium with other interested parties in regard to possible expansion of the power station.
The Lac d’Emosson and Lac du Vieux Emosson reservoirs lie 1930 and 2200 metres respectively above sea level between Martigny and Chamonix, directly on the French-Swiss border.
