On 7 May in the Bulgarian town of Kazanlak, the starting signal was given for the construction of a 50 MW wind park. The list of guests included key suppliers and several renowned public officials, among them Stefan Damyanov, Mayor of Kazanlak. The guests were welcomed on Alpiq's behalf by Reinhold Frank, Member of the Executive Board of Alpiq, and Allan Walmsley, Head of Alpiq Power Generation Central Europe. After the speeches, the official guests used shovels to symbolically break the first ground.
Commissioning planned for the end of 2010
Vetrocom will invest around EUR 80 million in the project over the next two years. The 20 wind turbines from the German manufacturer Fuhrländer will first feed electricity into the network at the end of 2010. For this investment, in February this year Vetrocom was awarded the First-class Investor Certificate – the highest investor rank in Bulgaria.
