Alpiq awarded e-mobility contract for the Fincantieri industrial group in Italy

Lausanne – The Alpiq Group continues to expand its e-mobility presence in Europe. In Italy, Alpiq will supply and install charging stations for electric cars at ten locations of the international shipbuilder Fincantieri. Once again, a renowned international industrial customer is thus relying on Alpiq’s many years of expertise and broad know-how in the field of e-mobility.

Alpiq has been commissioned with the supply and installation of charging stations at a total of ten locations of the international Fincantieri Group, which, with 19,500 employees and a turnover of 5 billion euro, is one of the largest and leading shipbuilders in the world (specialising among other things in mega yachts and cruise ships). Fincantieri’s employees will be able to recharge their electric vehicles directly on site. The charging stations will be located at two sites in Trieste and at eight other shipyards from Venice to Sicily. Thanks to the associated digital services from Alpiq, it will also be possible to carry out remote diagnostics and periodic consumption checks on the charging stations.

Integration of electric mobility into everyday life

E-Mobility offers great potential that Alpiq actively exploits thanks to its leading position. In its home market in Switzerland, Alpiq is the number one in the field of electromobility infrastructure and has, among other things, successfully implemented the electrification of the Grand Tour of Switzerland and the infrastructure for the electrically powered vehicle fleet of the Gebäudeversicherung Bern building insurance company. A further milestone was the collaboration with the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) for the Mobility-as-a-Service package SBB Green Class.

The contract for the Italian industrial group Fincantieri will contribute towards the further acceptance and integration of environmentally friendly e-mobility into everyday life. Alpiq is thus once again supporting a renowned industrial company with the implementation of its climate targets. In Italy, Alpiq has already been able to prove its e-mobility expertise with the installation of the charging infrastructure for a number of customers, such as the Leonardo Group, Amazon, Esselunga, Sorgenia and the Autogas Group.

Following its successful market entry in Italy, Alpiq will drive forward its expansion in other neighbouring European countries, such as Germany and Austria, and offer its services as a provider of solutions and digital mobility on the market.
