Andrea Papina will succeed Alfredo Baldi as Director of Alpiq Hydro Ticino on 1 May 2013. He will take over part-time activities related to the operation of the Airolo hydroelectric power plant, as well as for the water reservoirs Lucendro and Sella. Andrea Papina, who is from the Locarno region of Ticino, began his career with Alpiq in 2006 as project manager for the gas fired combined-cycle power plant at Chavalon in the canton of Valais. Since 2010, he has also managed various hydropower projects in the Ticino. Andrea Papina holds a diploma in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and completed a postgraduate course at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne.
Alfredo Baldi will take early retirement on 30 April 2013, after twenty-two years at Alpiq, including twelve years as Director of Alpiq Hydro Ticino. The general management of Alpiq wishes to thank him warmly for his commitment throughout all this years.
