Alpiq Energia Italia S.p.A. has been contracted to deliver electricity and related services to part of Italy's public administration authority for one year. The total volume for which the state-run company Consip invited bids is worth EUR 350 million and covers 2.5 billion kWh. In the bidding process, Alpiq won the largest order for 1.31 billion kWh and EUR 178 million. There is also an option to extend the contract for another six months.
Each year Consip, which is responsible among other things for public procurement for the Italian state, issues invitations to tender for electricity delivery contracts. The company is owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finances. The order consists of four lots, two of which were won by Alpiq for the regions of Aosta Valley, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Tuscany, Umbria, the Marche, Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise.
Alpiq has been operating in Italy since 1999, delivering power generation and marketing services as well as energy services via its companies Alpiq Produzione Italia Management, Alpiq Energia Italia, Energit as well as InTec Milano and Alpiq InTec Verona.
