Luca Baroni will assume the role of CFO of Alpiq Holding Ltd. on 1 September

Lausanne, 21 June 2021 – Following the appointment of Luca Baroni as the Alpiq Group’s new CFO by the Alpiq Holding Ltd. Board of Directors at the end of April, the date on which he will join the company has now been fixed: Luca Baroni will assume the position of CFO of the Alpiq Group on 1 September 2021. He will succeed Thomas Bucher, who will leave the company on 31 August.

At the end of April, the Board of Directors of Alpiq Holding Ltd. appointed Luca Baroni as the new CFO of the Alpiq Group. The business economist with an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen has been CFO, member of the Executive Board, and Head of Management Services at BLS AG in Berne since 2017. From 2005 to 2016, he was CFO and member of the Executive Board of Swissgrid AG, first as Head of Finance and Accounting and finally as Head of Corporate Services. Before this, the dual citizen of Switzerland and Italy worked for Energiedienst Holding AG, the Watt Group and the Federation of Migros Cooperatives.

At the end of February, Thomas Bucher, a member of the Executive Board and CFO of the Alpiq Group, decided to pursue a new career challenge. He will leave the company on 31 August. Thomas Bucher played a decisive role in the successful restructuring and focusing of Alpiq. Today, the company stands on a sound financial footing.

 

Composition of the Alpiq Executive Board

As of 1 September 2021, Alpiq’s Executive Board will be constituted as follows: Antje Kanngiesser (CEO), Luca Baroni (CFO), Michael Wider (Head of the Generation Switzerland business division), Matthias Zwicky (Head of the Generation International business division) and Michel Kolly (Head of the Digital & Commerce business division).
