Alpiq parts with Monthel industrial power station

In the operator of the power station, Compagnie industrielle de Monthey SA (Cimo), Alpiq has found the optimal buyer. As of 1 January 2014, Cimo will become the new owner of the power station. The two companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

The Monthel combined heat and power station in the Swiss canton of Valais was commissioned in October 2009. From the beginning, Cimo was responsible for operation and maintenance. By taking over the power station, Cimo will own the optimal capacities to generate steam and electricity in order to ensure the long-term supply of the industrial and chemical production in Monthey. With regard to the generation of electricity, Alpiq focusses on high flexibility, which is why the decision to pull out of the power station was made.
