On 30 September 2015, Alpiq and Sodexo established Sodexo Energy Services GmbH with headquarters in Heidelberg (Germany). This newly established company combines Alpiq’s know-how with Sodexo’s access to customers. Alpiq will primarily contribute its competences in electricity and gas trading and sales. In turn, Sodexo will now be able to supply its customers with electricity and gas in addition to facility management services. In a next step, this joint company will also offer energy services.
The two shareholders in the joint venture plan to expand the business model into other European countries. This cooperation with Sodexo is part of Alpiq’s strategy to expand its end customer business with electricity and gas, as well as energy services. The cooperation is an important strategic step in the diversification of the Alpiq business model.
